When considering a Biblical Theme, think about good sources for ideas. There are a lot of children’s Bibles that have pictures and wonderful scenes. Also, Biblical videos that are both animated and movies that have human actors. There are plenty of Bible Land reference books. All of these resources will provide you with a wealth of ideas to consider when planning your Biblical Theme.
With any of these theme ideas a good beginning point is to consider what do you want going on in your theme design? If it’s a Biblical town, what kinds of buildings do you want? What kind of street scenes would you like to see? What kind of traffic is going down the street? Are there going to be carts and animals or just people?
Here is a brief list to jumpstart the brainstorming of a town:
Buildings: Fish Shop, Bakery, Carpentry, Blacksmith, Stable, Inn, Temple, Fruit Stand, Tent Maker, Boat Builder, Home, Merchant, Pottery, Tapestry/Rug stand and Net Maker are a good start.
Props: Barrels, wood crates, fruit baskets, rugs/tapestry, pottery/pots, hitching post, water trough, baskets, canvas bags, wood stacks, and carts.
Characters: Any human character in Biblical attire, any native animals and birds.
Now let’s consider a country side. What kinds of things happened in the Bible that were in the country. Will there be a home? What about some fencing of some kind? Will there be a well or water hole? What about trees or a pond? What kind of animals would you see in the country?
Here is a brief list to jumpstart the brainstorming of a country side:
Buildings: House, farm, Biblical barn
Props: wood fence, stone wall, rocks, shrubs, plants, trees, flowers, logs, tree stumps.
Characters: Any human character in Biblical attire, any native animals, farm animals and birds.
Finally, let’s think a water theme. Are you going to have a boat or boats? Are the traveling boats or fishing boats? Will the theme be from the bank of the water or out in the water? Will the water be calm or will there be waves? Are there going to be fish in the water that you can see? Are there going to be birds flying around above the water?
Here is a brief list to jumpstart the brainstorming of a water theme:
Props: boats, boat dock, fishing nets, boat building props, fishing poles, rocks, tree stumps in water and along the shoreline, reeds along shoreline
Characters: Any human character in Biblical attire, any native animals, birds, fish.
Now, compile your ideas on paper and write out your plan, what you’re going to have in your space. You can do it! You have the creative license to be as creative as you want to be.
